then是连词，所以thus单独使用，后面可以跟一个句子，但不能和前面的前提句子构成复合句，而then可连接两个句子，构成复合句。hence和therefore两个词意思一致。互为彼此的意义。而用法也是相似的。根据Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary therefore 又一般放在句中,而hence则一般放在句末。仅供参考。
